We are thrilled to announce the Basic Needs Giving Partnership’s 2024 fall grantees! We awarded $2.5 million to 58 incredible organizations across 10 counties in Northeast Wisconsin that are addressing the root causes of poverty to build thriving, equitable communities in the region.
Creating a community where everyone thrives requires responding to people’s most immediate needs while also focusing on long-term change. Support is critical for organizations providing direct services and for those addressing the root causes of these issues by changing policies, practices, and systems.
This cycle offered up to $50,000 to organizations providing critical services or leading community-driven and collaborative systems change efforts in early care and education, housing access, mental health, and substance use.
Here’s how we are investing in these priority areas across the region (some organizations address multiple areas):
- Early Care & Education: all families have access to timely, affordable, and quality care, education, and support. (23 grantees)
- Housing Access: all households have access to timely, safe, affordable, and supportive housing. (27 grantees)
- Mental Health: all individuals and families have access to timely, affordable, and quality mental health services. (29 grantees)
- Substance Use: all individuals and families have access to timely, affordable, and quality substance use services. (13 grantees)
Each grantee is making a meaningful impact across our 10-county footprint—some working closely within local communities and others driving impact at a regional level. To learn more about the awardees and their work, check out the full list of recipients.
We are deeply inspired by the passion, creativity, and commitment demonstrated by organizations working to meet these needs and address critical challenges across our region. While we celebrate the grant recipients, we also recognize and commend the incredible work of all applicants. Your efforts are vital to advancing economic well-being across Northeast Wisconsin, and we are grateful for your dedication.
In 2024, the Basic Needs Giving Partnership awarded a total of $5.35 million in single-year and multi-year grants. These grants are made possible through funds raised during the annual U.S. Venture Open. This most recent event raised an incredible $4.83 million with 100% of every dollar reinvested back into our community to help end poverty.
We’ll communicate later this quarter about grant opportunities for 2025. Until then, please join us in congratulating the 2024 grant recipients!
With gratitude,
