The Greater Fox Valley Child Care Alliance is a network of partners across NE Wisconsin (from Greater Green Bay to Oshkosh) working to make it easier for children ages birth to 5 and their families to get the high-quality, affordable early care and education (ECE) and family supports they need to thrive.
With this newsletter we aim to educate and inform our communities about the need to transform early care and education in ways that will bring about more equitable and lasting outcomes for children and families across the region and to spark opportunities for action, alignment and coordination.

Opportunities to Engage & Learn
The Alliance recognizes that accessible, high-quality child care starts with a dedicated and skilled workforce. We continue to explore and advance conversations and strategies to address the root causes of low child care workforce compensation with the goal of promoting thriving families and robust and stable local and regional economies.
As part of its Spotlight on Child Care and the Labor Market, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago released recent findings and analysis of labor force participation for women with young children, noting that “the labor force participation rate for women is higher than it was prior to the pandemic. “The exception is Wisconsin, where the labor force participation rate for women with young children remains below it’s pre-pandemic level.” The Alliance is working with our network to better understand the dynamics behind this data and the larger story it is telling of Wisconsin as an outlier in the Federal Reserve’s Seventh District.

Advancing policy changes in our region will require new ways of thinking and valuing care. New resources are now available through a partnership between Leading for Kids and the Frameworks Institute. This collaboration is being supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Children’s Hospital Association.
“What Does Caring Mean? A New Framing Strategy to Shift Thinking About Kids and Families” delivers a “reframing of how we think and talk about kids by broadening Americans’ understanding of care”
